Oommen C. Kurian is Senior Fellow and Head of the Health Initiative at the Inclusive Growth and SDGs Programme, Observer Research Foundation.

Trained in economics and social medicine, he studies India's health sector reforms and global health within the broad context of sustainable development goals with a focus on financing and governance structures.

Over the last two decades, he has engaged with union ministries, state departments, government agencies, international agencies, foundations, academic institutions, corporations, and the civil society on issues related to health system strengthening and universal health coverage. He was a member of the Lancet Commission on COVID-19's India Task Force.

He led the India report for the Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience (PHSSR), a global collaboration of the London School of Economics, the World Economic Forum, and other prominent stakeholders. Besides his research publications, he is a regular contributor in mainstream media on issues related to health policy.
